Privacy policy

Last updated: 11 October 2026

Fairdoo is a browser extension (and soon a website) that checks whether a second-hand price is fair. This page explains what information it uses, why, how long we keep it, and your rights. In short: there's no account, we don't sell or share your data for advertising, and Fairdoo only reads a listing when you press Check.

Who we are

Fairdoo is run by Mohamed Gh, an individual in the United Kingdom, who is the "controller" of your information under UK data protection law. Contact: support@fairdoo.co.uk.

What we collect and why

InformationWhyHow long
A random Fairdoo ID created by the extension when you install it. It isn't linked to your name, email or browser account. To apply the free daily limits and keep your feedback separate from other people's.On your computer until you remove the extension. Daily usage counts on our server: 7 days.
The listing you check, read from the page only when you press Check: title, price, postage, condition, the listing's link and photo address, its description, and on Vinted and Depop the seller's star rating and number of reviews. You can see and edit this before sending. To work out what the item is and compare its price. The result (without the description) is kept for 24 hours so you can reopen it and use Sell it or Make an offer. The description itself is never stored.
What our AI made of a listing: the item's name and any faults or extras the seller mentions. So the same listing isn't analysed twice.Up to 7 days, stored under a code made from the listing text โ€” not linked to your Fairdoo ID.
Notes you type into Sell it or Make an offer. To write your listing or offer message. Not stored โ€” only used for that request.
Feedback (๐Ÿ‘/๐Ÿ‘Ž, a reason and an optional comment). To find and fix wrong prices.Until we've used it to improve Fairdoo (no longer than 2 years).
Suggestions and bug reports, and your email address only if you choose to give it.To read your idea and, if you asked, reply.Until handled (no longer than 2 years). Ask us any time to delete your email.
Clicks on eBay links: which link, from which result, and when. Not your Fairdoo ID.To count clicks and, where applicable, credit our eBay affiliate account (see the affiliate disclosure).Up to 2 years, for accounting.
Server logs: your IP address, the time and which part of the service was used.To keep the service secure and working, and to stop abuse (rate limits).14 days.
Backups of the database above. To recover from a failure.14 days.

We don't use cookies, advertising or analytics trackers. The extension doesn't watch your browsing: it only reads the page you're on when you press Check, and it never clicks, types or buys anything.

Our legal basis

We process this information because it's needed to provide the service you ask for, and for our legitimate interests in keeping Fairdoo secure, fair to use and accurate. Your optional email is used with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Who else handles it

While Fairdoo is in testing, we use Google's free Gemini service, under which Google may use the text we send it to improve its products. We'll move to Google's paid service โ€” which doesn't use your data that way โ€” before Fairdoo is publicly launched, and update this page.

We never sell your information, and we don't share it with anyone for marketing.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to how we use it. Email support@fairdoo.co.uk with your Fairdoo ID (shown in the extension under Settings) so we can find it โ€” without it we can't link anything to you. We'll reply within one month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Children

Fairdoo isn't meant for children under 13.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. Big changes will also be mentioned in the extension.
